I am Amanda. I am a wife, mother, feminist, vegan, environmentalist, breast-feeder, gluten freer, sewer, crafter, recycler, reader, coffee drinker, walker, dreamer, cloth diaperer, friend, meetup organizer, North Carolinian, Pennsylvanian, sort of spiritual….and many other things. I’m also a little bit crunchy.
In 2015 I became the mother to a beautiful baby weegan (wee vegan) who changed my world. I left my career and decided to stay home with my little weegan. He is the most delightful person I’ve ever met. He laughs easily, has a sweet and fiery personality, is funny, and makes my days so bright.
I had planned to blog before he was born and through his infancy, but I am starting around his second birthday. I’ve learned that life doesn’t always go as planned. I will blog about my experiences as I journey through motherhood as a bit crunchy mother in Durham, North Carolina. I will post about veganism, being gluten free, experiences, feelings, food, and more. You do not have to be a mother, wife, vegan, gluten freer, or a bit crunchy to stay and read.
I do not identify whole hardheartedly with the term “crunchy” as it has connotations that I am not comfortable in applying to my life. My background is in social science and I trust peer-reviewed research. I do not consider myself to be a crunchy person, but throughout my life I have been a little bit crunchy.
